My initial interest in VisualBots was working on a family project, but soon after I realized how fun and educational it could be. In fact I have been working on this project ever since fifth grade. I started out simply playing around with the program, making suggestions, and discovering flaws in the system for my father, but as time went by I became more experienced with VisualBots, and my work with it became more advanced. I have advanced from changing background colors of a simulation to creating my own simulations.
Mike Waite: I'm employed as a geoscientist in the oil exploration and production business. I specialize in analysis of seismic reflection surveys and in computer modeling of hydrocarbon reservoirs. My hobbies include boating, biking, and computer science. My motivations in co-developing VisualBots with my family were in helping my three daughters learn computer programming and in exploring the very interesting subject of emergent behavior, which I feel is important for developing a better understanding for the way the world works. Carla Waite: I am a mother and serve on the CIPLC school board. I believe in community service and encourage participation by our family whenever possible. I served as a Girl Scout leader for my daughters for five years. I have volunteered/aided in the classrooms at schools in the various countries we have lived for the past ten years. I believe in family endeavors and try to instill a love of learning and adventure in my daughters. I enjoy cooking, traveling, reading, boating, experiencing new countries and cultures, and spending time with my family. The Waites work on VisualBots as a family hobby at their home in Venezuela. They have lived in Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Kuwait and enjoy overseas living. Their favorite hobbies are exploring the islands in Puerto La Cruz and traveling. |
